How My Belly Painting Began

Welcome to my belly painting page. I want to tell you a little about myself here. I became a trained doula professional in 2005 because my sister was going to be having a baby. My sister was restriced to the bed for almost the majority of her pregnancy, and what else could I do with her but paint her belly? It was great, she was able to relax, put her feet up, receive a lot of attention and actually relish in being pregnant. After our first 4 (!) paintings, I had to rest. She let me rest for about 5 minutes, before she started conjurring up more and more designs. All in all I painted her belly 28 times (!!) over the course of four months. I was able to master my trade and also make a beautiful alphabet book for my niece out of all her belly paintings--so that she could know that we played with her before she was even born. Since then I have offered belly painting to all of my doula clients and many of them have been intrigued and have taken me up on this fun opportunity. And now I would like to invite anyone who is pregnant to enjoy my belly painting services, please peruse my portfolio in the gallery and contact me with any questions. Thank you, Jane

Love you ideas
Hi Jane, I am a fellow face and body painter and I came across you site as I wanted to show a friend of mine who I pregnant some ideas as she is new it the whole idea. Wow is all I can say and that you are so creative with all your ideas. The alphabet book, cards really stood out to me but the rest are great too. I also spend some time in hospital with SPD and hubby and I painted my belly over the last two days before my daughter was born. Everyone that see's the belly painting - love's it. I dont have much opportunity to paint bumps so I'm always on the look out so that I can get practice and it will help build up my profile. Keep up the great work. Helen
